Our commitment
A platform that protects rare craft has a responsibility to protect the world those crafts come from.
Spangle was founded on the principle that what is rare is worth protecting. That principle doesn't stop at craft. The materials, traditions, and makers we celebrate are inseparable from the natural world that sustains them. Natural dyes come from plants. Ceramics come from the earth. Textiles come from fibers grown in soil. We take that seriously.
Environmental stewardship is not a marketing position for Spangle. It is a structural commitment — woven into how we operate, how we build campaigns, and how we grow.
Spangle has enabled Stripe Climate contributions, directing a portion of platform revenue toward high-quality carbon removal projects. We are acting on this belief from day one — not after we scale.
Many of the crafts we elevate through Spangle's Prime Directive are environmentally significant. Traditional natural dyeing, heritage textiles, hand-thrown ceramics, foraged material work, and land-based crafts represent accumulated knowledge about living with and from the natural world. Preserving these crafts is an act of environmental stewardship.
Sellers on Spangle are encouraged to share information about the environmental practices behind their products. Packaging choices, material sourcing, and production methods are part of the full story — and our platform is designed to make that story visible.
Coming soon
Each year around Earth Day, Spangle will dedicate a campaign drop to creators and sellers whose work connects to land, nature, and sustainability. A portion of Earth Week campaign revenue will be directed to environmental causes through Stripe Climate.
We are a young company. Our environmental impact today is small and our commitments are genuinely modest. What we are claiming is that we take this seriously, we are building with it in mind from the start, and we will hold ourselves accountable publicly as we grow.
